Parcero 04:28

Goza!! Vuelve!! English Translation Verse 1 The wind brings war stories Violence that blinds our hearts Our tears are deep But our happiness our salvation Prechorus I don’t want to be a foreigner To all this anger and pain Let this humble land forgets flags And may any resentments disappear Coro Brother Listen, Look beyond, In your hands lives a voice That will heal you To stand up with courage Its is change, its coming slowly But with strong steps and love We only need to Disarm ourselves today So we can love ourselves today Verse 2 Let the seed spread through the fields And hope grow again We will all walk together From Amazonas to San Andres Because life is beautiful I also sing to the woman And to Colombia to feel joy again Lets believe again

about

This International collaboration between Aria-nominated Oscar Jimenez (Watussi/Amaru Tribe) and Afro-Colombian group, Phonoclorica is a celebration of cultural connection stretching across oceans.

From Bogota to Melbourne, Phonocloria’s polished five-piece ensemble enriched with Jimenez’s joyful relationship to his South American roots, tells a story of bonds that extend to form the foundation of friendship, extending into the community, as we unite to work through the global issues we face. This idea is highlighted by violin virtuoso and artist QVLN (USA) on the track ‘Parcero’, which translates from the Colombian vernacular as ‘mate’.

The four tracks are uplifting, inspiring and reflect Oscar’s love for Colombian dance and folklore, which gives the listener a sense that no matter what is happening, everything will be ok. While both artists have their own contemporary style, the Latin-jazz arrangements on this EP give the songs a modern pop sound, appealing to diverse listeners across the world.

This project came to life during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed the work to be continued after initially recording these tracks in Bogota in 2016, during the time of the country’s Peace Process.
The International Song Writing Competition (ISC) awarded Jimenez winner in the Latin Category for a song that came out of that 2016 session called, ‘Vuelve a Nacer’ and he was also awarded the
coveted prize in 2012 with his song, ‘Isabela’. This new material is nothing short of the quality we have come to expect from this multi-talented singer/songwriter and these tracks reflect a maturity and growth with messages of positivity for a changing world.
